Problem:
The first problem I have come across is that I am currently in Lockdown so I cannot meet up with people unless it's just one person and we are doing exercise. This will cause a problem for me because I will need to meet up with three people. Even though I will meet these three people individually, I will not be able to film because that is not a form of exercise. The news has stated that the Lockdown rules are lifting from 8th March were schools can reopen but on the 29th March up to six people an meet up s long it is social distanced. If these dates and rules go ahead then I will be able to film the interviews just as long as we are social distanced.

Solution:
It is now 29th March and the Lockdown rules have been lifted so I will be able to film the interviews when I need to.

Problem:
Another problem I face is having to rely on people (the interviewees) to show up on time for filming or showing up at all. It is very important that they show up because if they don't or are late then I will be behind on schedule so I will either have to rush filming that day or reschedule to film another day. This will give me more stress and the quality of the footage I will film could be bad as I would've rushed it.

Solution:
To solve this I will make sure to say to my interviewees the time and day and where too meet for the interview. I will tell them to write this down on their calendar/diary or the Calendar app on their phone. I will even message them the day before and on the day of filming to remind them about the time and place of where to meet for it.

Problem:
I have come across a problem where I have gotten behind on my work. This has happened because some pieces of work have taken longer to do than I thought it would which has resulted in me being behind on my timetable. As I am behind on my timetable, it has made me panic slightly as I don't want to get so far behind that I don't hand in my project in time. It also has made me slightly disorganised as I'm not sure where I am at within the timetable so it is hard to know what I should really be doing and when to finish stuff.

Solution:
So I get back on track, I have amended my timetable so it suits me more and is more realistic for me to complete my work. The tasks are all the same but I just changed the dates of when I should do and complete certain tasks. Here is my amended timetable:

13/04/2021 - 18/04/2021: Start pre-production work which entails of making a script, recce sheets and risk assessment sheet.
19/04/2021 - 25/04/2021: I will start production by filming the interviews to see which angles, lighting and placement of the interviewees in the shot I like best. I will also start post--production y creating the title of my documentary in Adobe Photoshop.
26/04/2021 - 02/05/2021: In this week I will create a rough cut for my documentary and get feedback from my supervisor. From their advice and me analysing it, I will decide which parts need amending or if I need to add or takeaway anything in it.
03/05/2021 - 11/05/2021: During this time I will do the changes I need to do to my documentary which might be by filming extra content, edit it more etc.
12/05/2021 - 14/05/2021: Finally, I will do the evaluation for my work and hand everything in at the end.

Problem:
I had planned to film an interview at college with Hus Yahya today (which is the 19th of April) but unfortunately, he wasn't able to meet for it and didn't let me know till the day we was supposed to meet. This made me feel disappointed because I relied on him to meet up. I understand that Hus has his own FMP to do but I would've appreciated a further waring. Luckily I had other work I could do in the mean time but this meant I will have to reorganise a different date and time to meet up for the interview with him.

Solution:
Even though I couldn't meet up with Hus on the day organised, I have managed to pick another day to film the interview which is the 27th of April. This is quite a number of days away but I have organised to film with other interviewees and Hus has stuff to do for his FMP. This day suits us best and to make sure he definitely shows up for it, I will message him the day before and the morning of the interview to remind him about it.

I messaged Hus Yesterday and this morning to remind him to come to college today to film the interview. This method worked because he did show up and we filmed the interview which only took 25 minutes.

Problem:
I was setting up the equipment for the interview with Hus, these being the camera, tripod and large LED light. I had a problem where the large LED light wouldn't turn on even though the batteries were in correctly and I checked everything myself a number of times to be sure why it wouldn't turn on. I couldn't figure out why but I was on a time schedule so I dint want to waste any more time so I filmed the interview any way without the light.
Solution:
Instead of using the large LED light I used the natural light coming through the window and the lights in the ceiling. This lighting wasn't as good as it would've been with the large LED light but I was still happy with it. However if I have the time, I will refilm the interview with Hus and use a large LED light that works as it would look better for my documentary.

I have booked to refilm Hus' interview on Monday 11th May just in case I do have time to film it but if I don't then I will not film it and use the footage I have already got.
Problem:
I have edited the footage of the interview of James together and I am not happy with the lighting at all. The mistake I have made is when I filmed the interview with James, I placed him facing away from the sun so the sun was behind him. This made James look very dark so you cant see him very well. I don't like this because I want the audience to see his facial expressions as it is an interview and it gives a cold/dark vibe to it which is not what I intended to have.

Solution:
To fix this problem I will put the footage in Adobe After Effects and see what editing tool I can use to make it brighter. If this makes the footage look bad and I'm not happy with it, I will have to refilm the interview another day and make sure when I am filming that James is facing towards the sun.

I edited the first question from James interview to amend the lighting and it did work in the sense that it was brighter and I could see James' face more but I was not happy with how it looked because it looked grainy which is bad quality. This means that I will schedule to film with James again next week as it is Thursday 6th May today and do not have time for the rest of this week to film. I will arrange to do it on Monday the 10th May as I will need time to edit it as well.

I have booked to use the camera equipment for Monday 10th May so I will definitely be filming the interview with James that day. I booked it early in the morning so I have more time to edit it.

I have now successfully re-filmed James' interview. It went successful because the lighting is far better than the first interview with him. The lighting is a lot better because I made James stand facing towards the sun so the sunlight isn't behind him making it hard to see his face. I feel very happy that I re-filmed James' interview because it looks more inviting for the audience to watch and it looks more professional.

Problem:
As I was setting up the camera to re-film James' interview, I noticed the screen was very white so I couldn't even see James in it. We filmed in a exterior location in the sun so I was expecting the screen to be bright but no where near as bright as it was. I felt confused as to why the screen was so bright but I remained calm and positive because I knew there would be a way to fix it.

Solution:
To find a way to make the screen less white/bright, I searched on my phone on how to fix it. I found the solution straight away and all I needed to do was set the aperture higher. By having high aperture, it allows less light in the camera so it is darker. I simply turned the dial on the top of the camera until I was happy with the brightness showing on the screen.

Problem:
After fixing the problem with the aperture, I stumbled across another problem which was when I pressed record, the camera would show a bar chart with red dots going up and when they reached the top the camera would automatically stop filming. I tried recording a few more times but this same problem kept happening. I knew that the bar chart with the red dots meant that the camera was over heating but this made me very confused because it was a hot day and the camera wasn't turned on for long at all for it to over heat.

Solution:
The best thing for me to do was to ask my teacher to why this was happening and what I could do to fix it. The only solution that we thought of was to get a different camera. The new camera I got from the college worked fine and this problem didn't happen with it. It made me feel frustrated that this problem happened because it wasted time for me to film the interview but luckily me and James had four hours free to film it so we wasn't under pressure with time.
